PicoPlus Laser

With two high-energy wavelengths (532nm and 1064nm), the Lutronic PicoPlus® laser can rejuvenate the skin and minimize the appearance of pigmentation abnormalities, sun spots, brown spots, tattoos, and birthmarks. The picosecond laser, which can treat nearly any area of the face and body, allows our patients to achieve their aesthetic goals in less time and fewer treatments than other types of available laser therapy.
Jordan V. Wang, MD, MBE, MBA, and the board-certified dermatologists at Laser & Skin Surgery Center of Pennsylvania in the greater Philadelphia area on the Main Line in Devon have the experience, training, and expertise to customize all our patients’ treatments to deliver the ideal outcome. The PicoPlus laser allows our dermatologists exceptional precision and versatility to ensure each treatment is quick, comfortable, and personalized for each patient. At your initial consultation, our team will complete a comprehensive evaluation to determine whether the PicoPlus laser is the appropriate treatment for you.
How does the PicoPlus Laser Work?
Clinical work carried out by the world-renowned in-house research center at the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York directly influenced the currently approved treatments of the PicoPlus laser. Our board-certified dermatologists have harnessed the knowledge from these studies to safely and effectively eliminate pigment in tattoos, sun spots, birthmarks, and other pigment disorders.
The PicoPlus laser works by breaking up unwanted pigment with short, rapid pulses of energy. These microscopic particles of pigment are then naturally removed through the body’s own lymphatic system.
What does the PicoPlus Laser Treat?
The PicoPlus laser is the gold standard for tattoo removal, but its ability to remove unwanted pigment also treats:
- Age and brown spots
- Sun spots
- Freckles
- Birthmarks
- Melasma
- Café-au-lait macules
- Nevus of Ota
- Acne scars
When will I see results?
PicoPlus results appear once the skin heals, which typically takes 4 weeks or longer. How long it takes to see your results also depends on the number of treatments needed to remove your unwanted pigment.
How long is the recovery time after treatment?
Although you can expect mild redness and swelling after treatment, you should be able to resume your normal activities right away.

FAQ
Q: Is the PicoPlus Laser Safe?
A: Yes. The PicoPlus laser is FDA-cleared to treat a wide range of pigment abnormalities and tattoos that are difficult to remove. Our board-certified dermatologists have the extensive training needed to customize your treatments to your unique skin type, concerns, and aesthetic goals.
Q: How Many Treatments Will I Need?
A: The number of treatments needed depends on the concerns you’re addressing. Removing pigment from a tattoo can take several treatment sessions, while some skin lesions only require a single visit. At Laser & Skin Surgery Center of Pennsylvania, your board-certified dermatologist will evaluate your skin to determine the appropriate number of treatments for you.
Q: How Long Do the Results Last?
A: Although results vary from patient to patient, most individuals enjoy a long-term reduction in unwanted pigment. Once tattoo pigment fades, it typically does not return.
Q: Are There Any Side Effects?
A: Thanks to the device’s short, rapid pulses, PicoPlus treatments are less likely to cause side effects than other types of laser therapy. Most patients experience mild swelling and redness, but these effects shouldn’t stop you from carrying out your normal activities.
Q: Am I A Good Candidate for PicoPlus Treatments?
A: If you have an unwanted tattoo or pigmented lesion, PicoPlus treatments may be right for you. The treatment is ideal for men, women, and most skin types and tones.
