Restylane is a non-surgical treatment that reverses symptoms of aging on the face by smoothing out wrinkles and restoring volume for a more youthful appearance.

Restylane, Restylane-L®, Restylane® Silk, REFYNE®, DEFYNE®, and LYFT® are all members of the Restylane® family of products. Each is a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid that is specifically designed to act like your body’s own naturally produced hyaluronic acid.

Jordan V. Wang, MD, MBE, MBA, and the board-certified dermatologists at Laser & Skin Surgery Center of Pennsylvania in the greater Philadelphia area on the Main Line in Devon are highly knowledgeable and experienced physicians with skin treatments, including injectable fillers. At your initial consultation, we will work directly with you to develop a customized treatment plan that can help enhance and rejuvenate your skin.

How does Restylane treat wrinkles?

Hyaluronic acid naturally occurs in your body, including in skin tissue. Synthetic hyaluronic acid, such as Restylane, can be injected into areas, where it supports skin and tissues that have lost plumpness or smoothness due to aging or environmental damage.

As the filler restores volume to the dermal structure, it smooths away wrinkles from the inside out. The additional volume can also add to a youthful appearance by plumping up areas like the cheeks and lips. In addition, the filler can help make your skin glow by promoting water to the surface of your face. Results of Restylane treatments are nearly immediate and last many months for most patients.

Where is Restylane used?

Restylane is commonly used to treat wrinkles that form as a result of collagen loss in the face. These lines typically include:

  • Nasolabial folds (extend from the nose to the corners of the mouth)
  • Marionette lines (extend from the corners of the mouth to the chin)

Other treatment areas for Restylane are:

  • Loss of volume in the temples, midface, and along the jawline
  • Lips that are thin or have lost volume over time
  • Dark circles and fine lines under the eyes

What can I expect from my Restylane treatments?

Restylane treatments are quick and relatively comfortable. For patients concerned about discomfort during the procedure, we do offer options, such as topical numbing cream and Pro-Nox (laughing gas). Once your session is finished, you will be able to return to your activities right away. Some patients may see minor swelling or bruising at injection sites, but this can usually be easily hidden with makeup.

When will I see the results?

You will notice results immediately following your Restylane procedure. While there may be minimal swelling, you should see improvement in wrinkles and additional volume in key areas of the face that were targeted during treatment.

How long will my results last?

Results typically last 6-12 months after a Restylane treatment. We can schedule regular treatments for you so you can maintain your improvements indefinitely.
