How does Restylane Kysse add volume to the lips?

Restylane Kysse is a clear gel that is formulated to act as your body’s own naturally produced hyaluronic acid that plumps and hydrates the skin. When injected, it instantly restores volume to create a plumper set of lips without looking overdone.

What is cross-linking technology?

The unique cross-linking technology of Restylane Kysse and other Restylane fillers complements the chemical bonds within the skin, making these treatments safe, effective, and long-lasting. Cross-linking allows HA to be chemically engineered in such a way that the thicker the gel, the greater its ability to hold its shape for a longer period, as it slows down the disintegration process. Here’s how the three cross-linked Restylane products differ:

Restylane Refyne (6% cross-linked) – More adaptable for softer, more superficial layers of the skin. It effectively smooths out fine lines.

Restylane Defyne (8% cross-linked) – Ideal for deeper skin layers requiring more lift and support. It is commonly used for folds and marionette lines and is good for movement.

Restylane Kysse (7% cross-linked) – Its formula makes for a more flexible product that is softer than Defyne but firmer than Refyne. It achieves the perfect balance between sharp definition and natural fullness of the lips.

Because of its unique formulation, Restylane Kysse allows for more flexibility and tissue integration. This means your filler will move with you as you speak, laugh, or kiss.

What other concerns can Restylane Kysse treat?

In our Devon office, our board-certified dermatologists inject Restylane Kysse into the lips and the upper perioral rhytids (lines around the upper lip) to temporarily add fullness to the lips and smooth away perioral lines. Typically, patients who undergo a Restylane Kysse treatment can achieve the following:

  • Fuller lips with a natural feeling
  • More shapely lips
  • Improved lip symmetry
  • Enhanced lip texture, definition, and color
  • Smoother and firmer skin around the upper lip

What is a Restylane Kysse treatment like?

Restylane Kysse already contains the anesthetic lidocaine to reduce pain and enhance your comfort throughout the procedure. Our team of board-certified dermatologists will use a very fine needle or cannula to inject Restylane Kysse into your lips or the skin above your mouth to help smooth the wrinkles around your upper lip.

Most patients find the procedure to be quick and relatively comfortable. A treatment session can last approximately 5-30 minutes. If you are concerned about discomfort during treatment, speak with your physician about the application of topical numbing cream prior to your procedure.

At Laser & Skin Surgery Center of Pennsylvania, 100% of our treatments are always performed by our board-certified dermatologists, who put patient safety and comfort at the top of their priorities, ensuring that you can enjoy beautiful, natural-looking results that last.

When will I see results?

HA dermal fillers are known for producing immediate results. You should see changes on the lips—an enhanced natural fullness and softness with smoother skin around the upper lip as soon as your treatment is over. You may experience mild bruising and swelling around the injection sites, but these should be resolved within a day or two.

How long will my results last?

Restylane Kysse has been clinically proven to last between 6-9 months, but patients have reported up to 12 months of improvement. Our board-certified dermatologists will also recommend a maintenance treatment plan to optimize and extend your results.

Q: Is Restylane Kysse approved by the FDA?

A: Yes. The FDA has approved Restylane Kysse for lip augmentation and the correction of upper perioral rhytids (wrinkles around the upper lips) in adults over the age of 21.

Q: Am I a good candidate for Restylane Kysse?

A: Those looking for fuller, plumper lips are candidates for Restylane Kysse. Those who desire to add more definition to the shape of their lips while achieving volume with a natural look and feel will benefit as well. It is a safe treatment option for all skin types and tones. Patients should also be in good general health and have reasonable expectations for the outcome. We recommend scheduling a consultation in our Devon office to determine if Restylane Kysse is the right treatment choice for your needs and goals.

Q: Do Restylane Kysse injections hurt?

A: We take the necessary steps to ensure your comfort during the procedure. Restylane Kysse’s formula already contains the anesthetic lidocaine to enhance your comfort throughout your procedure. Our board-certified dermatologists also inject Restylane Kysse using a very fine needle or cannula. Most patients find the procedure to be quick and relatively comfortable. If you are concerned about discomfort during treatment, topical numbing cream may be used before your procedure.

Q: Are There Any Side Effects?

A: Because of its unique cross-linking technology, Restylane Kysse reduces the swelling that patients commonly experience after lip filler injections. Although uncommon, side effects may still occur but should only be temporary. Some patients might experience mild swelling, bruising, and slight redness around the injection sites, which should resolve within a day or two.

Q: What will I look like after my Restylane Kysse treatment?

A: In the hands of a trained and skilled injector, such as our board-certified dermatologists, injections are done safely and effectively. You can expect not to look overdone after your Restylane Kysse treatment. You will have fuller, plumper lips that look and feel natural with a smoother appearance overall.
